We offer creative workshops in watercolor painting, oil painting, acrylic painting, pastel, drawing and collage at our location in Rockledge Florida.
Our mission at Designs By Sylvia Art Workshops is to provide artists the opportunity to develop their skills and vision by bringing them together with today's top teaching artists in an environment that is uniquely inspiring. Our all-in-one environment encourages artists to relax, focus on their creativity, and get to know one another. Meals are enjoyed together, class size is limited, and the Studio is open six days a week. The schedule of instructors change, to provide a diverse, exciting choices.
Classes are held for older children, teens and adults in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, classical realism and portraiture, mixed media/encaustics, traditional and figurative drawing, color theory, palette knife painting. Weekend workshops are also available. Space is limited.
Fees for art classes do not include art supplies or model fees.
Instructors will provide an supply list to be purchased prior to the first class. Tables are provided by the school.
Checks are made payable to Designs By Sylvia mailed to the school before the session begins all major credit cards accepted. Payment is due two weeks prior to the beginning of the session to secure a space since there is limited seating in the classroom. Most classes are $125 for 4 weeks. Most classes are three (2) hours in length.
Enrollment fee is non-refundable as a class space is being reserved for enrollees unless there are extenuating circumsgtances.
REFUND POLICY
There is no adjustment for classes missed unless there is an family emergency or physical move from the city which removes the student from the classroom.
DROP-IN CLASSES
$40 per 2 hour class for adults for most classes is available if space allows.

MAKE-UP POLICY
The make-up policy is at the instructor's discretion and will be no more than one per session at a designated time to be determined by the instructor. Should a class need to be canceled by the instructor, the class will be made up at the end of the 4 week session.

Summer Art Intensive for Kids
The focus on will be on fundamental drawing and painting techniques that will enrich your child's interpretation of the world around them for their own art making practice. They will practice working from life, from their own creative forces, and from memory. Artistic concepts such as line, form, proportion, value, texture, color mixing and relationships will be covered. An emphasis will be placed on developing their own creative voice.
These classes are not craft oriented. They are specifically designed to introduce or further develop your child or teen's ability to perform basic artistic technical skills.
Concepts:
- Tonal values in shading
- Color wheel and mixing colors
- Painting
- Contour drawing
- Still life drawing
- Grid drawing
Kids Class (7 - 10 years old): Tuesday & Thursday
Students will learn and expand upon their knowledge of
fundamental drawing concepts such as line, value,
proportion, and composition through the use of drawing
materials such as charcoal, conte crayon, and ink
wash. They will draw and explore natural objects such
as leaves, branches, rocks, and animals and familiar
objects such as objects from their bedroom, in their
closet, or under their bed.
Teen Class: Wednesday & Friday
With an emphasis on creative thinking and problem
solving students will create several paintings that
explore color theory concepts and art historical
styles. Lessons will focus on the refinement of
skills and techniques including blending, dry brush,
washes, line, value, proportion, composition, and
color relationships. |
